Perdue – Intervention

The Challenge- Working again with director George Zwierzynski Jr. and the teams at The Onion and Purple Stuff Productions, I was tasked with coloring a uniquely comedic commercial for Perdue Chicken. The creative concept involved a family staging a serious, emotionally charged intervention—for their chicken. The challenge was to avoid a “sitcom” look and instead evoke a moody, cinematic aesthetic that contrasted sharply with the absurdity of the premise.

The Execution- I utilized DaVinci Resolve to craft a somber, desaturated palette that mirrored the visual language of high-stakes drama. By focusing on deep shadows and a cooler color temperature, I helped ground the “intervention” in a reality that made the comedic payoff far more memorable. This project allowed me to flex my ability to use color as a storytelling tool, ensuring the aesthetic remained consistent with the director’s vision while pushing the visual quality beyond the standard commercial scope.

The Outcome- The result was a highly memorable and successful commercial piece. The “moody” grade was instrumental in selling the joke, proving that technical color finishing is vital to the emotional (and comedic) impact of a story. I am incredibly proud to have been part of this collaborative effort with a world-class production team.
